I am looking for an active writing community to continue to improve my skills in plot development, descriptive writing and character creation. I am a committed player, who will participate weekly/daily, conscientiously interacting with other players. I am a flexible, non-judgmental person who will not be complacent with my characters: I will strive to improve my character’s interactions with other characters, and add to the richness and the variety of the game.

Previous RP experience: Fiery Inception, LJ, (Ron Weasley, Narciss Malfoy,) Time of Trial, IJ, (Ron Weasley, Pansy Parkinson, Rodolphus Lestrange, Frank Longbottom,) Dark Compulsion, LJ, (other characters)

Age of character you are applying for(physical age, if one of the resurrected): 21

Birthday: 30 January 1960

PB: Danielle Panabaker

Wand: Willow, 10 1/4", swishy (nice wand for charm work)

House at Hogwarts: Gryffindor, 1978

Family
Parents: Johnathan Harrison Evans, father and Jane Elizabeth Evans, mother, both deceased, 1978
Siblings: Petunia Evans Dursley
Family interactions (how does your character get along with his/her family members?):
Lily Evans is the youngest daughter of the Evans. She has one older sister, Petunia. They were close as children, until Lily began to demonstrate her emerging talent in magic and received an invitation to attend Hogwarts School of Magic; this jealousy was further fueled by Lily’s continued success as a witch and her happy marriage to a rich, handsome, dashing man. Petunia spent most of her adolescence and adult life being jealous of her younger, prettier sister.
Once Lily finished school, Lily was away from home quite a bit and did not interact with her family that often, other than the compulsorily visits home once a month, to attend a Saturday outing or picnic with her parents. Petunia was jealous of Lily’s freedom. They remain estranged until their parents passed away. Lily’s mother contracted cancer, and her father followed quickly, pining for Lily’s mother. Their parents passed away not long after Lily’s marriage to James Potter, which was the motivation for the rekindling their sibling bond. Lily made every effort to interact more with her sister. Before she went into hiding, Lily spent some time trying to ‘fix’ her relationship with Petunia; she was successful and their relationship changed slightly, with some of her sister’s pettiness set aside. The two sisters were once again on civil speaking terms with each other. Christmas presents were exchanged; correspondences and short visits occurred.

Lily tried to be a good aunt to her sister’s son, Dudley, but found it difficult to do; she was very occupied with the Order's activities against Voldemort. Once she became pregnant, almost a year after they were married, she and James went into hiding. Letters were sent back and forth, but Lily was disappointed not to have been more successful at repairing her relationship with her only sister. Petunia never expressed great interest in Lily’s life, no matter how much Lily attempted to share the normalcy of it or the limitations she faced. She never would have dreamed that Petunia would end up raising her son.

Lily has a husband, James Potter and a son, Harry, who are her main family. She is in love with her husband, and is a devoted mother and wife.

Occupation:
She has none at the present but will petition for a job with the Ministry, to work within the Muggle/Wizards Compliance and Complaints Department, to intercede in Muggle/Wizard interactions and issues. This is if she is allowed to obtain a job. If she is not, she will volunteer at Hogwarts, in an assistant capacity. Lily is a talented witch, with a strong need to serve. She always dreamed of being a professor at Hogwarts. This would be an occupation she would dearly love to persue.

Residence:
None, when she walks out of the woods; she will ask to stay at Hogwarts if she can or stay with her sister until she can obtain a job and get out on her own. She will accept the hospitality of her son, once she meets him and if he offers, but she does not expect to be cared for by others. When she finds that James has returned, she will try to find him, and ask to stay with him. She will strive to make her own place and support herself and her husband if she can.

Financial status: no money of her own.

Political views: Lily is a Muggle, and believes that all beings should be created equally. She is quite aware of the political views of the previous years; she was at constant risk, by being a magic practicing Muggle. The change of political acceptance about Muggles and their interactions with magic will be a refreshing surprise to her. She is not aware of the current political feelings, but thinks integration would be a good idea, as long as it is tempered and done at a very, very slow pace.

Blood Status: Muggle

Sexuality (Please note, if you are playing a pureblood character who is also gay/bisexual, there are guidelines): heterosexual

Physical description

Height: 5’5”
Weight: 115 pounds
Distinguishing marks: Lily has brilliant green almond shaped eyes. Her eyes are one of her most noticeable features. She has a small scar on her lower calf, from an attack during her fifth year at Hogwarts. She also has a scar on her left elbow, from breaking her arm during one of her earlier antics as a child.

Give us a description of your character's appearance:
Lily is a very pretty woman. She has pale skin with a hint of freckles, bright green eyes, and long dark red hair. She has a sweet face, long lashes and a dazzling smile which she shows most of the time. She is of medium height, with a small frame. She is not muscular, but slim, with an average build. She loves to walk, and is very fond of exploring gardens, and Muggle historical sites, which general requires long hours of exploring, giving her physical endurance. She catches a person’s eye; her personality adds to her physical attractiveness. She is from the English middle class, and dresses fairly conservatively. She wears skirts, sweaters, and little makeup, and is most comfortable in Muggle attire.

Give us a description of your character's personality (for example, are they a confident person? Do they speak their mind? What are their flaws and good points? We want to know that you have a good understanding of your character, so feel free to use examples and make it as in depth as possible):

Lily is a Gryffindor, through and through. After her first year of being intimidated by being in the wizarding world, she started demonstrating the characteristics that the Sorting Hat saw in her, long before she knew they were there. She is brave, confident and assertive. She is willing to help most people, to try to solve most problems, and is loyal. She is friendly, and will notice a person who needs help, and offer her assistance. She is outgoing and an extrovert.

But the war activities of the past few years of her life have put a damper on much of her outgoing personality. The grim reality of Voldemort’s attacks on the Order, and the revelation the prophecy have made her set aside her frivolities to focus on helping others. Once she and James discovered she was pregnant, they went into hiding, and remained in hiding after the birth of their son, Harry. Thus, for the last two plus years of her life, she has lived in basic isolation with her husband. They had almost no visitors. She was content to be with her husband in such a situation, but the looming threat of death to her child was daunting. Normally quite cheerful and positive, by the end of the two years, her nerves were more frayed. She had the solace of being with James, and the hope that her child would be safe. No one was allowed to visit, save Peter Petegrew. Written communications with friends, such as Sirius and Remus, were few because of the potential risk of being found. This isolation was necessary but traumatic; knowing that they were hunted by every Death Eater was a terrifying thought, and thus her normal cheerful disposition was severely tested.

Lily has a kind heart, and a helpful nature. But she also has a stubborn streak, and a fiery rise to indignation should she be insulted or controlled. This temper has been subdued and softened by the birth of her son, but her temper can flare if warranted.

This is her flaw- her helpful nature combined with her stubbornness; she is quite sure she can fix anything or anyone. It can be an annoyance, to a fault. She is not used to seeking help, and will try to solve problems on her own, many that she cannot fix.

Although a talented witch, she is not perfect. Her sweet disposition leads her into trouble, more times than not, by offering to help and failing at times, much to her embarrassment. She expects that she can change people; she has still not realized that most people cannot and will not be ‘fixed’ or changed.

Lily has faced and defied Voldemort three times in her life, with the help of James, and the other Mauraders. The fourth time was fatal to her; this gives her experience that has made her wise in confronting and challenging evil, and should have tempered some of her nature to rescue and ‘fix’ everyone. But it hasn’t.

Lily has other positive qualities. She is talented in Potions and Charms, and is creative in her problem solving skills. She is confident, and speaks her mind. She is not intimidated by people who don’t agree with her.

History
Please give us a brief history of what happened to your character past canon to bring them to this point. if playing an OC, please give a much longer history to show how your character fits into this world:
As a child, Lily was a bundle of energy who was taught to be quiet and obedient. Her family lived a sedate, respectable middle class life; her father was the pharmacist at a local drug store that her parents owned. The family spent weekends together; attending concerts and picnicking in the park. They went to the seashore only once a year; any more of a vacation would have been frivolous and a bit too adventuresome. The family never traveled outside of England; Lily could only remember one time when they had taken a trip to the mountains and to the country. Her mother loved classical music, while her father enjoyed jazz. Thus, Lily was raised in a house, filled with the sound of music, coming from the wireless in the evenings. It was a secure and contented family.

Being the youngest, she was dotted upon by her parents, and coddled by her older sister who delighted in mothering her. All this changed with her emergent magical talent. She was sparked by the curious feelings magic gave her; she became excited as she tinkered with it more and more. The neighbor boy called her a witch, a name that was not nice; Lily had mirrored Petunia’s disgust at the insult, and followed her lead. But Lily was lured by the possibility of real magic being a part of her life. The conservative middle class Evans family was suddenly invigorated as magic crept in. The normaly quiet evenings spent listening to the radio, reading books and playing quiet games were changed into entertaining evenings of Lily animated a variety of items to put on ‘shows’ for the family. She found greater delight in practicing magic, no matter how her new friend, Severus Snape, warned her not to practice magic outside of the school setting. Her stubbornness kept her from stopping, and the jealously between she and her sister grew. She started spending more time with the boy, Severus Snape, trying to match her knowledge of fairytales with his obvious knowledge and expertise of the real thing. Petunia was furious with Lily about this; she had been Lily’s authority on life up until that point. A wedge was put between the two sisters that an invitation to Hogwarts further cemented.

Lily went into the school, at first intimidated by the new surroundings. She was quiet and reserved, a model of her quiet, middle class upbringing. The ride on the train drew her closer to Severus in that instant the rude remarks were made, but the Sorting Ceremony split them up again. The world of magic was far more extensive than she had realized. Every summer she returned to the Muggle world, to help run her family’s pharmacy and drug store. But her mind would be on her magic; itching to return to Hogwarts to learn more and more about what she could do.

By Lily’s third year, her confidence in herself and her magic was open and apparent. She had discovered broom riding her first year, and by her third year, she loved flying fast and furiously. She would help younger students; she was a model student herself. She found time to continue her friendship with Severus Snape; it was difficult due to the conflicts between their houses but he was her best friend. The library was their common domain. And the summers at their homes in Spinner’s End was their annual time to re-affirm their friendship. Lily, always interested in learning all she could about magic, was concerned at Severus’s draw to the Dark magic but she accepted him. They had lively debates and she tried to help him, however she could, to make him more social acceptable; she wanted to limit the amount of bullying he seemed to unconsciously encourage when at school.

In those last few years at school, Lily Evans was known by all as a very talent young witch at Hogwarts. A member of the ‘Slugclub’ and a Head Girl her seventh year, Lily was a strong influence on many of her fellow Gryffindors. Ever the helpful rescuer, Lily could often be found, kindly but firmly counseling fellow students with their problems and studies, making sure the younger students followed the rules, and kept out of trouble. By her fifth year, however, she was become more adventuresome and bold herself. She and Alice Whitby snuck out to Hogsmeade for Alice’s birthday, in the early Spring. Alice and she had drunk a few celebratory drinks, and upon exiting, were surrounded and attacked by Death Eaters. She valiantly defended herself and Alice. Alice was knocked unconscious and Lily fell down, taking a blow to the head and being injured on her leg. Unknown to her, James Potter had followed her, and upon seeing her being attacked, he retaliated in her defense. He rescued her, and (with the Marauders’ help) whisked her away to the Shrieking shack to heal her, and smuggle her back into school.

To this point in her Hogwart’s attendance, she had not been impressed with James Potter and his antics. He had made a poor impression to her; it had begun that first day on the train, when he had made snide comments to her only friend, Severus Snape. Once she discovered they were in the same house, Lily avoided James Potter like the plague. This avoidance was effective for a number of years; James Potter seemed not to have noticed her or cared about her. But at some point, she found that he had changed his view of her. She wasn’t sure exactly when he had taken a fancy to hounding her. He did all types of idiotic capers and tricks to gain her approval and her attention; it was the same feats he used to dazzle all of the other girls but they had little effect on her. She still viewed him as an opinionated, insufferable toe-rag. He was a pure blood and seemed to flaunt his success and skills in front of other students; she would have nothing to do with him. She had no idea how obsessed he was with her; it took him saving her life for her to suddenly see him in a different light.

After that fateful event, Lily could not look at James Potter the same way. He was brave. He was resourceful. He was caring and kind. He demonstrated compassion. These were all characteristics she did not think he possessed. She couldn’t help herself; she was impressed by him. And she found subtle ways to communicate her change of heart to him during their 6th year at school.

Her turn of heart towards James Potter lead to a gradual change of heart for Severus; he was becoming increasingly tiresome, and they argued often. After the event on Alice’s birthday, during their 5th year, Severus told her that he wouldn’t let her become more involved with James Potter, which infuriated her. Her relationship with Severus was disintegrating. When their OWLs were completed, and after an especially brutal bout of being teased, Severus lashed out at Lily; he called her a “Mudblood.” This was the last straw; she felt she had repeatedly tried to help him, all in vain. She ended her friendship, disgusted in Severus for not trying to change, and in herself for not being successful at changing him more.

James visited her that summer, when she worked for her father in the pharmacy. During 6th year, Lily began to realize more of James Potter’s qualities, and their friendship bloomed. By the beginning of her 7th year, she was openly dating James Potter. The summer after she finished her NEWTs, and finished with Hogwarts, Lily felt liberated and free to explore the Wizarding world, as a witch. She traveled and shared adventures with James Potter, and his friends. Lily, along with the Marauders, joined the Order of the Phoenix, to protest Voldemort’s creeping reign and power. This fight against tyranny brought them closer together still, and they were married not long after leaving school, in the fall of 1978. They were busy with their combined efforts to the Order, and Lily became pregrant in 1979, to give birth to a healthy baby boy July 30, 1980. Lily was helped by Madame Pomfrey, and had Harry at the Hogwarts, to try to keep their son's birth as secret as possible from Voldemort. He unfortunately discovered the information, and tracked them down through their secret keeper, to kill both of them.

Resurrected Characters (please ignore if not applicable to your character):

If your character is one of the resurrected, what is their last memory and why have they returned at their particular age?:
Lily’s last memory is of being attacked and killed by Lord Voldemort as she tried, in vain to protect Harry. She has returned to that moment, consumed by her concern for her son’s life. She is twenty one, and has appeared in the forest, confused and tormented. She knows that Lord Voldemort’s presence- his attack on her and her son- could only occur because James failed and died trying to keep the mad man from his family. She also realizes that their secret keeper has betrayed them; she is remorseful that they did not keep the secret with Sirius Black. She is fearful that her son has lived a tormented life; that if Voldemort failed, he stole Harry to torture him. She is mournful, knowing that James must be dead, and frantic with worry for Harry. She does not know if her young son survived; this instinct to defend her child has brought her back to life.

Each person who returns from the dead using the magic of the resurrection stone must have a reason to come back. Not only would the character want to return, they must be needed by someone for something. Why have they been brought back?
Lily must confirm that Harry is okay. It was the nightmare of the attack and the need to protect him that brought her back to life. When she realizes that he is grown, one of her goals will be to create a relationship with him, one that will best serve his needs and hers for comfort and closeness. Whatever type of relationship they form, she will make every effort to secure that Harry is happy. Once she is satisfied that he is basically okay, and learns of her son’s history with the Dursleys, she will confront her sister, Petunia about her abysmal treatment of her son. Lily will also seek out Peter Petegrew, their secret keeper, to challenge, confront and possibly kill him for destroying her family. Because her husband is returned, she will strive to be re-united with him and re-connect with school friends, those who are alive and undead.

Plotting
What short and long term goals do you have for your character?
Her short term goals are centered around her immediate need for answers upon her return. Her initial goal will to be to find her son; after that, she work to re-establish her life. She will mourn the loss of seeing her son grow, of abandoning him (even if by force.) She will begin to experience the first stages of mourning for James's death only to find him alive. She will experience the startling reality of her lacking relationship with her only sibling. She will work through these losses by allowing herself to be drawn to help the community at large; she will work to lend a hand to the Wizarding world’s recovery and repair of itself from the war, if she is allowed to in her undead state. She is in the unique position to understand and anticipate Muggle reactions to certain Wizarding experiences. She would like to help smooth the transition.

Her long term goals reflect the changes in her life: without a small child to care for and with no potential to start another family due to her undead state, Lily has the chance to re-explore her career choices prior to marriage. Before she was forced into hiding, she wanted to become a teacher; she thought she would make a good Potions or Charms instructor. She will pursue this career, once it is clear that things have returned to normal in the Wizarding world. This is all contingent on her being allowed, as being an ‘undead’ has complicated things.

How does your character feel about the post-war world? (The Wizarding Community becoming more open to Muggles, captured Death Eaters receiving the kiss, or being stripped of their wealth and property for lesser offences):
Lily is happy about the Wizarding world becoming more open, but cautious. She understands, from a Muggle’s perspective, how many Muggles may react to the open use of magic, and she is cautious in her vote of confidence for the plan. She is also highly suspicious of the Death Eaters; having been through the first war, and lost her life, she does not underestimate their ability to re-organize and resurface, regardless of the Ministry’s stringent efforts to incarcerate all of them. She believes that the punishments may work in re-changing their thinking. But she is also under the impression that other aspects to the punishment would help to re-educate them more effectively: she thinks that they should lose their wand use as well, and be reduced to Muggle status as a prison sentence, for a period of time. This process would allow them to gain an altered perspective, and could “re-teach” them how to view Muggles.

She lay on the soft forest floor, and slowly let herself awaken. Pain spread with every breath she took, from the center of her chest radiating out to her fingertips. The pain was incredible. It was like giving birth; no, she thought, it was more like being born, if one could remember that experience. Her hands lay flat, and she stretched out her fingers to find pine needles under the tips. Frowning, with her eyes closed, she took in a deep breath, and felt the pain radiate but smelled the sharp, clean scent of the forest. She exhaled, and tried to sit up with a start but to no avail.

Harry! Where was Harry? Where was she? She found her wand under her hand and tried to get to her feet. Her body would not cooperate; she simply flopped on the ground with groan, her arms behind her, trying to push herself up. Why couldn’t she get up? She felt herself struggling, the pain in the center of her chest as she moved. She moved a hand to the spot and touched it, gingerly. A touch to it caused bright emerald green lights to flash before her eyes. But she pushed the pain to the side, and rolled to her side.

Harry? Where was her young son? Where was the nursery? Had she missed Voldemort’s spell? Her hand on her chest told her she had not. There was a tear in the fabric of her clothing; she would have some mark on her skin, she was sure. But where was she? Had she apparated here? Had Harry wandered off? The idea of her toddler son wandering around the woods spurred her to struggle to a sitting position. The last thing she remembered was defending Harry, her hand in front of her with her mouth open in a scream. She had tried to reach Harry, to hold him tight, ready to apparate away from that horrible monster of a man who loomed before her. She thought she remembered a dazzling green flash and pain. Then there was nothing. And then she was here.

She closed her eyes, and the past vision came to her mind. Voldemort had burst through the door into their home as she had stood, stepping down the stairs. She had only made it to the second step before she caught a glimpse of him. James’s shouts to her, warning her from family room, had alerted her to the danger. Their plan had been simple enough: if Voldemort found them, grab Harry and apparate to Sirius’s house. James would catch up with them. He would be okay, he assured her.

But his gargled screams had frozen her for a moment; she couldn’t stop herself. She had taken a step further down, foolishly thinking she might be able to help him. She had met Voldemort’s red gleaming eyes and had begun to shake her head in disagreement and terror. Her wand! It was in her bedroom! She turned back to grab it, and dashed across the hall to save her son. Get Harry, get Harry, was all she could think. Her maroon dress swirled around her as she burst into the nursery, to the crib side, ready to reach in and scoop him out. The door crashed, and she turned, her wand tangled in her robes. Her body shielded Harry and she struggled to free her wand, to throw her hex. She remembered pleading with him, “Mercy!” with her free hand raised, as if to block his curse.

There was a bright, green flash and this horrible, body-wracking pain. And then, there was nothing.

James was dead, she was sure of it. Voldemort would not have left him alive to pursue her. As she sat, she sobbed loudly as tears filled her eyes at the thought of her handsome husband, lying dead somewhere. I must find Harry, she thought as she rubbed her face with her sleeve. She decisively called out, “Harry?” and she struggled to her feet. She had her wand; she was in no shape to apparate. And she knew that it would be no good; her son was here, somewhere alone. Of that she was convinced. She wobbled through the woods, yelling his name over and over, her heart breaking at the death of James and the loss of her boy.

Hagrid was checking on his thestrel herds, and heard the call through the trees. A woman’s voice, clear but with a twinge of panic sounded, “Harry! Harry, where are you?!”

Hagrid was instantly alerted. This wasn’t the first person to appear in the woods out of the ordinary; his large strides took him towards the sound, and his astonishment at the sight that greeted him was great.

“Lily! Oh, Lily Potter! You’ve returned!”

Lily turned towards the familiar voice, and let go of the tree she clung to, almost stumbling over an exposed root as she moved towards Hagrid’s voice, “Hagrid? Is that you? I’ve lost Harry. Oh Hagrid! We have to find him! He’s only a small child. Oh please, help me!”

She collapsed as he neared her, passed out. Hagrid lifted her careful, and moved as fast as he could towards Hogwarts, to find Professor McGonagall.
